Temporary Dog Park

5/27/08 - The Town Board has rescinded their decision to have temporary dog park. Please refer to "What's New" for details.

(email sent 5/13/2008)

Hi All,

We are pleased to announce that the Town Board has preliminarily approved a temporary dog park in the Town of Moreau !

Thank you to our “Founding Mothers”, Phyllis and Terry!

Thank you to our Town Councilman, Todd Kusnierz who has served as our Town Board Liaison and Advisor.

We have to go before the Board at he next Board Meeting on 5/27 to review the proposed rules, registration process, registration fees, maintenance and fencing. So we’ve got our work cut out for us! Please consider attending this very important meeting!

If you want to use a dog park we need people to show support and get volunteers to help make it happen and to keep it nice for all users! We need folks to attend the Volunteer Meetings – the next one is this Thursday at 7pm at the Town Hall.

The proposed location is at the old Jehovah Witness Church on Rte 197 next to the Fire House.  The area is .5 acre that is currently fenced on 3 sides and there is plenty of parking. We are still working toward a more appropriately designed, permanent facility, but this is a great way to prove to our community and Town Board that this is a valuable asset to our community.

If you have any questions, ideas or willing to be a volunteer then please let me know. Please let me know if you plan on attending the Volunteer Meeting and/or Town Board Meeting on 5/27.

We also need members to join the Moreau D.O.G Club for a membership fee of $10 to help get us started and to present an organized effort to the community. Our goal is to pursue at some point a non-profit status as a 501 to get significant support for a permanent location. You can bring your membership fee to the next Volunteer Meeting or mail it to me at 10 New Street, South Glens Falls . Make checks to “Moreau D.O.G. Club”.

Thank you to all have supported this effort to date!
