2/12/08 Moreau Town Board Minutes -  (click here for all minutes - www.townofmoreau.org )

"...Next to address the board, were the representatives of the Dog Park Committee. Cheryl Palma advised that she had asked to be on the agenda in order to report back on their meeting with the Recreation Commission. She advised that the board members had before them information on their thoughts and findings from that meeting.

Supervisor Jenkins acknowledged receiving information from their group and the board would review it and if they wanted to be on the agenda for the next meeting they could be. He said he understood they had some questions on the Recreation Commission Members appointments and the Town Board made it clear that when they filled positions they looked for resumes and held interviews and appointed people. This is what they did. They did not receive any resumes from any members of their group.

Cheryl Palma replied that they had some members interested, but they were unclear on what the process was. They thought it would be a topic for the Recreation Commission Meeting instead they found that the positions had already been filled. She asked what the process was and Supervisor Jenkins explained.

Phyllis Miyauchi stated for the record that they had done research and gathered information on five dog parks in the area surrounding us down to Albany and provided the board with this information. She also gathered information to address the concerns over the dog park being sited in the Rec. Park.

In response to a question from a member of the public, Councilman Kusnierz stated that historically all appointments and hiring have gone through the personnel committee, but in this instance it was done by the Recreation Commission Liaisons.

Phyllis Miyauchi asked why and Supervisor Jenkins said it was his decision and the entire board approved the appointments.

Discussion followed on the appointments to the Recreation Commission."
