Volunteer Meeting Summary

Hi All!  

Thank you to all who could attend tonight’s Moreau Dog Park Committee Volunteer Meeting! And thank you for your commitment! Lots of great ideas so here’s a brief summary. This will be posted on the website.  

If you could not make tonight’s meeting, please let me know what you would like to volunteer for. Also, please respond with an update of previous commitments made at the previous Volunteer Meeting on 11/1/07.  

Please be sure to check the website for updated link resources and updates! Please send puppy pictures.

PREVIOUS VOLUNTEER MEETING 11/1/07  FOLLOW-UP:

      Lyn – Were you successful with your community campaign to get surveys distributed/completed in your areas? – Castle, Myron, Terry, Jan streets; area of Town Park entrance off Bluebird; Were you successful in identifying a potential accounting resource?

      Stacie – Were you successful with your community campaign to get surveys distributed/completed in your areas? – Area around South High and Tanglewood: Were you successful in identifying a legal resource?; Were you successful in contacting TV8 for promos?

      Brenda – Were you successful with your community campaign to get surveys distributed/completed in your areas? – Random areas off Fortsville; Were you successful in communicating with the Town of Moreau Dog Control Officer ?  

PRIMARY FOCUS – COMPLETION OF SURVEYS/COMMUNITY SUPPORT:

      ALL MEMBERS WILL CONTINUE TO REACH OUT TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS THEY CAN TO GET COMPLETED SURVEYS AND SOLICIT SUPPORT!

RABIES CLINICS:

Shelley will research where these are held, when and who manages them. Once we find this out either we will get surveys to them and/or we will have a person attend to provide information once we have approval.  

OTHER VENUES:

      We will all be on the look out for opportunities/events to promote the creation of a dog park.

      We will all be on the look out to communicate the initiative at any relevant events/to businesses and organizations.  

PRINTING/MARKETING SERVICES:

  1. WE NEED TO FIND A BUSINESS THAT IS WILLING TO SUPPORT OUR NEEDS FOR COLOR/B&W COPYING OF FLYERS, CREATION OF BUTTONS, LAWN SIGNS AND/OR BUMPER STICKERS
  2. Mike – Will approach Northeast re: their interest in helping with #1 on this list.
  3. Shelley – Will also research businesses to create lawn signs.

COLLATION OF DATA FROM CURRENT SURVEYS:

      Cheryl – Will collate all info from surveys submitted for presentation to Parks and Rec Commission on 2/4  

PARKS AND REC MEETING ON 2/4

      Planned attendees – Cheryl, Mike, Terry, Shelley

      Goal: To understand and address Parks and Rec Commission’s objections to a dog park in the Moreau Dog Park ; To create a collaborative working effort; To gather response information to present at next board meeting  

COPIES OF SURVEYS AND POSTERS:

      Terry – Will make copies of surveys and posters for distribution. She will deliver these copies to Cheryl’s house within the week. Those who need copies for distribution can pick them up at Cheryl’s house.

RADIO SHOW:

      Shelley & Cheryl – Shelley will confirm with Cheryl the recording of All American Properties Radio Show for 1/24 at 4pm

      Radio Show to air on 1/26 at 8am on 101.7  

LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN-VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!:

      Volunteers needed to assume letter writing campaign. Letters to be sent to the newspaper editors, politicians, etc.  

TOWN BOARD MEETINGS – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO ATTEND!:

      Next Town Board Meeting – Dog Park Committee will ask to be on the agenda for the first Town Board Meeting in February after meeting with the Parks and Rec Commission on 2/4; Goal to present results of Parks and Rec Meeting to the Town Board

      Anticipated Town Board Meeting Date: Tuesday 2/5

      DOG PARK SUPPORTERS ARE NEEDED TO ATTEND THIS MEETING!!!  

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

      Cheryl will continue to seek out media outlets (newspapers, press releases, events, etc.) to promote Dog Park Initiative and meetings

      Radio Show – 1/26, 8am, All American Properties Radio show on 101.7 FM

      Proposed/proposed: Lawn signs and promotional buttons to supporters

      Meeting with Assemblywoman Sayward – Tentative meeting set for 1/31
